Biometric Security Software – Futuristic Technology Available Today

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

You might have seen biometric security software in any number of futuristic movies. Using voice identification, fingerprints or retinal scans to achieve access right into a building in order to use a computer may appear futuristic. But the technology already exists and it has been in use for more than ten years.

It is not currently in widespread use, which is why it appears to suit within the movies. Many people are unacquainted with it. Most companies still depend on guards or keypads and passwords to secure their buildings.

Based on the private consulting firm of Booz Allen, the technology has been utilized through the federal government since a minimum of 1995. There is even some controversy concerning its use within relation to personal privacy and civil rights.

So while it may be emerging or still developing in some ways, the technology is not sci-fi. It exists and can be used by your organization.

The technology can be used to secure an entire building or perhaps a single room within the structure. It can and is getting used to limit access to company computers.

Vehicles could be designed with scanners that permit only certain individuals to bring them. One of the instances that provides some support for the controversy occurred when a man’s finger was cut off by car thieves in order to get around the car’s security system. That happened in Malaysia in 2005.

Generally, biometric security software has been a successful crime deterrent. There may be methods for getting around it. But, it’s the best system currently available.

Should you wanted to protect the employees, copies of the fingerprints could be integrated into an RFID tag. As with other kinds of tags, they could be stolen. But at least, the employees might be protected against injury throughout a robbery.

Biometric security software can also be used simply to confirm an employee’s identity. That may be essential in a very large company.

Governments around the world happen to be while using technology in their “e-passports”. Many countries have announced plans to implement the technology later on.

Cards can be used to store a myriad of personal information. Medical conditions are examples of information that can be stored about the identification cards. This is helpful in emergency situations.

Disney world World happens to be the largest commercial organization to utilize biometric security software. No matter your company’s size, you may find it useful, too. All you need is a well-designed database.

Technology and Today’s Kids – Your eyes of the World

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

My distaste for technology are closely related to the fact that I grew up in the united states, no use of the outside world through telephone, internet, or television. My kids are aghast when i tell them the storyline of Mommy’s techie-less childhood, pity filling their eyes when i speak of a life isolated. Even while I try to reassure them that I liked it that way, they shake their heads in disbelief, appalled that their grandparents would submit my siblings and that i to a life without the windows around the globe looking in.

That’s correct, you heard me right – no TV, no Wii, no DVD player, no Blueray thingamajig. No internet access, no cell phones – heck, no phone whatsoever! We lived in the “boondocks” as Dad lovingly called them, dry, harsh desert lands just north from the Mexico – Arizona border. Eight siblings, we were each other’s best frenemies. I was fierce kids, smart kids, and always healthy kids. The outdoors was our playground, and living in the nation, there was plenty enough for everybody! We ran, built forts, kept pets, caught lizards, and rode our bikes everywhere.

Then one year, our innocence was interrupted, and that we became the new owners of a much-loved Nintendo game console. It arrived to our way of life when I was about thirteen, and in the future, we suffered from “Mario addiction.” I can still whistle the theme music…doo doo doo, doo doo do doood! Soon after weeks, though, the novelty from it wore off, and that we were soon back outside – running and romping and creating.

Which was my only brush with technology and its power growing up – and I sometimes envy those innocent times of ignorant bliss. Fast forward to today – I run a full-fledged internet business, happily most days, frustratingly on others. I still have confidence in the usefulness of Facebook, Twitter and texting for communication purposes and business networking – though NONE of these programs are my pal. I am unceasingly surprised at the openness of folks on the internet, and especially appalled at what comes out of the mouths, err, keyboards – of “Christians” across the net, especially on Facebook! Call me old-fashioned, and you bet your bippie, you’d be right. Call me a prude – right again! Chalk everything up to growing up in a home where our mother’s jaw would drop if one people said “deodorant” in “mixed” company!

I guess my indicate all of this jibber jabber is the fact that I’m wondering in which the personal discretion has gone. Yes, I get it – technology is here now to stay, it’s a good thing for business and growth, yada yada. I am finally getting pretty looking forward to that opportunity, too. My question is this – using the eyes of the world upon us Christians in a more highly exposed way than ever before, what are we going to do with this particular opportunity?

I am not at all suggesting we put a Scripture on every Facebook post, or use Twitter to put 140 character mini-sermons into cyberspace! I’m merely questioning using what’s before us as a tool to achieve dozens, no hundreds – actually, thousands for Christ! Not only in a “Holy” way, however in tangible ways, too. What about just as being a positive encourager on the web? Maybe just keeping some “moods” and anger issues at “you know who’s” at bay, or even privately cope with them before God instead of about the world-wide web! I’m not sure, I’m “just sayin!”

I guess I have to understand that my kids are becoming an adult in a time quite different from my very own childhood. I don’t fear on their behalf though, they serve the same God I did! I just want them to use what is before them like a tool for Kingdom purposes, rather than a stress buster or mood release for themselves. Among the finest these phones realize that there are consequences for everything we do, including for what we all know to do, after which not do! I suppose I just want them to remember, online and off, that the eyes around the globe are upon them.
